Coaching & Training Safety Thinking:
Employee Coaching

The Course is delivered over five progressive levels:

Level 1: Creates and focuses individual awareness, using specialised assessment and coaching, on their personal ability and responsibility for safety.

Level 1

Course Description
Focuses individuals on their personal responsibility for safety using the Australian Safety Awareness Training Survey (A-SATS)

Outcomes
AS&QA Level One develops "individual" attitudinal safety awareness. Participants are coached to achieve recognition of their ability to exercise personal control of safety in all environments and situations regardless of how innocuous or hazardous the appearance. The primary focus is on the participant accepting personal responsibility for their own safety behaviour.

Qualification
Participants completing this level achieve a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment in:

  • Develop personal safety awareness

Level 2: Provides peer reinforcement and team commitment through group training of core safety attitudes identified at Level 1 using the Australian Safety Awareness Training Survey (A-SATS).

Level 2

Course Description
Provides peer reinforcement and team commitment through group training of core safety attitudes identified at Level One.

Outcomes
AS&QA Level Two expands and encourages the individual's safety awareness understanding and compliance through peer reinforcement and commitment. Daily, on and off the job, peers and workmates informally provide each other with compliance direction and support. As teams adopt and adapt basic safety awareness attitudes and concepts to their own workplace environment they accept ownership, responsibility and a commitment to achieve a culture of safety.

Qualification
Participants completing the AS&QA Level Two training day will receive a Statement of Attendance for completing units:

  • Understanding Accidents
  • Safety Control
  • Avoiding Risks
  • Stress Tolerance
  • Professional Attitudes
  • A Personal Action Program
Level 3: Determines and enhances safety awareness development and commitment with follow-up assessment and more directive coaching.

Level 3

Course Description
Determines and enhances safety awareness development and commitment with follow-up Assessment (A-SATS) and more directive coaching.

Outcomes
AS&QA Level Three provides more directive coaching cementing an enhanced level of personal confidence in attitudinal safety awareness. Participants achieve a personal rational context for understanding their own and each others responsibility for safety behaviour. A culture of safety awareness is generated by individuals and teams on the job as usual practice providing a foundation for continuous improvement. Organisations by and through their people are seen as safety focused and committed.

Qualification
Participants completing this level achieve a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment in:

  • Develop and implement strategies to raise safety control and risk avoidance
  • Apply knowledge of personal safety behaviours in the workplace
  • Develop and implement strategies for personal stress tolerance

 

Level 4: Develops and coaches personal initiative and actions to promote safety awareness to their work colleagues, family and community.

Level 4

Course Description
AS&QA Level Four coaches participants through a personal initiative continuous improvement program with activities to promote safety awareness at work and with colleagues at work, and with their family and in their community.

Outcomes
Develops individuals personal initiative to promote safety awareness at work, with their colleagues, family and in their community.

Qualification
Participants completing this level achieve a Statement of Attendance in:

  • Goal Setting
  • Safety at Work
  • Safety at Home
  • Healthy Lifestyle Activities
Level 5: Expands and sustains a continuous improvement mindset and commitment to lead safety and professionalism throughout the organisation.

Level 5

Course Description
AS&QA Level Five completes all of the qualifications from the Course in Advanced Safety Awareness. Three monthly Individual Action Modules (7-9) reinforces safety awareness concepts and attitudes. A third A-SATS and coaching, debriefing and assessment session is conducted to measure and reinforce safety awareness development and to conclude the full Course in Advanced Safety & Quality Awareness. Coaching and Assessment is conducted by your own internally PaQS trained Safety Coaches or external Industry Training Professional of choice.

Outcomes
Instils and cements an enhanced level of attitudinal safety awareness. Participants achieve a personal rational context for understanding their own and each others responsibility for safety behaviour. A culture of safety awareness is generated by individuals and teams on the job as usual practice providing a foundation for continuous improvement. Organisations through and by their people are seen as safety focused and committed.

Qualification
Participants completing this level achieve a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment in:

  • Apply principles of professional safety awareness practices within the workplace
  • Develop, implement and review safety behavioural strategies
